Staff MEB Posted February 2, 2015 Staff Posted February 2, 2015 Select the shadow and drag it up and to the left a little on the Layers panel, until a blue marker appear. A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
jackamus Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 Cheers MEB. Presumably 'Divide' only applies to Adding and Subtracting shapes? If voting made any difference it wouldn't be allowed! jackamus Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 I can't select the shadow in order to move it to the left. What am I doing wrong? If voting made any difference it wouldn't be allowed! Staff MEB Posted February 2, 2015 Staff Posted February 2, 2015 You have to select the shadow on the Layers panel. Move it up a little and drag to the left until the blue marker appears to unclip it. Yes divide only applies to compound shapes, not single solid shapes., A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

Staff MEB Posted February 2, 2015 Staff Posted February 2, 2015 Sorry, i wasn't clear enough. Sometimes it's a little tricky... depending on where you pick the layer. So if you pick the layer in the middle of it you must drag it up a little and to the left until the marker appears. If you pick the layer in the thumbnail area, dragging it up a little is enough. Check the attached video. A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
jackamus Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 Thanks MEB, All sorted now. On the subject of clipping is it possible to clip or crop this group of lines to the red shape on top? These lines are an attempt to create technical illustration shading in perspective. I used Cmd+J to create it having first calculated the number of lines needed with an incremental angle of 0.1deg. jackamus Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 A further question on this. Is it possible to save a group that has been edited in some way e.g. cropped, to be converted into a new group of objects so that it can be cropped again but at a different angle? In other words losing previous cropping information. If voting made any difference it wouldn't be allowed! Rules are for the guidance of wise men and the obedience of fools.
