Flood Selection Tool

Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm new to Affintiy Photo (IOS). Is there something that I am not doing but should. I am trying to select with the flood selection tool some blocky type. But the flood selection tool won't do anything. It worked yesterday, but not today. I thought you just tapped on the object you wished to select? Can anyone help?

Hi Neshiah474,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
Beside @Callum suggestion, also check the type of layer you are working with (the small letters in all caps right above the layer's name in the Layers Studio). If your layer is identified as an Image layer type (which is the type of layer you get when you place/import an external image into the document) you must convert it to a Pixel layer first, selecting it in the Layers Studio then tapping the More (the three dots icon) button on the top of the interface) in Photo Persona and selecting Rasterise ▸ Rasterise. The Flood Selection Tool should then work normally.

Also to add to @MEB make sure, your layer is chosen (not just with the check mark) but it has that light gray highlight going across its name field.

This light gray highlight, is your visual indicator, that tells you... this is the layer, that's about to receive, whatever action you are about to commit.
