toltec Posted July 17, 2017 Share Posted July 17, 2017 I'm not 100% sure this is what you mean, but you can import a greyscale picture File > Place, onto a new layer and convert it into a mask using the menu command Layer > Rasterize to Mask. You might have to invert it (black to white and vice versa) so select the mask layer and go Layer > Invert. That is a reasonable approach because you can edit the greyscale layer easily, using any tool or adjustment, before you rasterize is to a mask. Although you can edit the mask layer after you "rasterize" it to a mask, editing is more limited i.e. you can't use dodge and burn tools on a mask. I would therefore recommend you make a duplicate of the greyscale layer before you turn it into a mask. Alfred 1 Quote Windows PCs. Photo and Designer, latest non-beta versions.
