Pinnochio
Hello Affinity Developerteam, for EPS export, the transparent document background is set to white, if objects have effects like shadow. The background is transparent only in PDF (vector) export. Tested with Indesign import. Greetings from Germany, Pinnochio ezareepov
Staff MEB Posted July 12, 2017 Staff Share Posted July 12, 2017 Hi Pinnochio, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) The EPS format (specs) doesn't support any kind of transparency. A Guide to Learning Affinity Software | Affinity Quick Reference
MikeW
EPS doesn't natively support transparency. If you were to export the same from AI, it would be the PDF that ID is placing. Then at output, likely the transparency in the drop shadow would be rasterized against the background color (at least depending upon the output condition. Pinnochio
If no effects are used (such as shadows), the transparency of the EPS export is correctly coded and correctly displayed in Indesign. That's why I add the object shadow later in Indesign.
MikeW
Yes, more properly it should be said that bitmap effects cannot have transparency in an EPS format. And there are transparency modes/effects that though vector, they will not have transparency in an EPS either.
