I know there are many ways to create a mask for hairs and I am trying to master AP's selection refinement tool. I'm able to create a mask using AP's selection refinement tool with satisfactory result on some photos but I still can't figure out how the "Ramp" and "Border Width" options work and how to apply them to different situations. Take this image in GIMP's Masking hair with fine strands tutorial for instance. I know we can use the same method described in that tutorial but I can't figure out how to get AP's selection refinement tool to select the fine hair.
