Spellcheck not working

Recommended Posts

Hello, what a great app you guys have! Been playing with it few hours last night and i can't get that red spellcheck line go away.

I found from Google that it's easy to turn on or off with desktop version.

I wrote: "In my wildest dreams" and wildest and dreams is saying it has problem. It shouldn't have?

It's annoying to have that redline all the time, any fix?

Thanks

Hi Duel,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

You didn't specify which platform you are using. Assuming it's the desktop app go to menu Text ▸ Spelling and uncheck Check Spelling While Typing.

Currently it's not possible to turn it off in the iPad version.

Sorry, my mistake, i left one crucial point out I'm from Finland and that hit me! I have my language Finnish, so I thought maybe spellcheck is trying to use Finnish, I changed my iPad language to English and the red line was gone, that was workaround, but I thought I'm going to leave the English there too and add Finnish back to my main language and it works! Problem solved :)

And no desktop I'm using my iPad Pro 10.5" and meant to post this to iPad area but noticed it went to wrong place?

But anyway if someone else have this problem in future this is fix!

Hi,

My problem is that spellcheck is not finding any errors. I have Affinity Designer Windows desktop version 1.6.1.93. I have looked under text and Spelling>check spelling by typing is checked, I have tried the spelling options which either doesn't have any text or if I select the text first inputs paragraphs but doesn't find any errors.

I have tried a sample text in a text frame shown below and no errors were detected.

hello how ar you    are - ar     learner - leanir   loan - loaz   have - hvae.

I have tried selecting the whole text, exiting the text frame, still no errors.

I have read the help file on spelling.

I have closed and restarted the computer.

I have typed the same text into Affinity photo and it has the same issue.

Spellcheck works fine in MS Word.

Am I missing a setting or do I have a problem.

Thanks any help appreciated.

Thanks for the reply MEB, however it didn't help. I changed the language in preferences and in the text >show character, several times trying English UK and English US as it said EN -AU was unknown. I restarted Affinity Designer as required after changing the language in preferences and even restarted the computer. Checked check spelling while typing as well. Still no luck.

Thanks for your time and effort.

Since you’re using Affinity Designer for Windows, not Affinity Photo for iPad, it would be better to create a separate thread in the main Questions forum.

Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.3.1 (iPad 7th gen)
