Bug in typesetting

Recommended Posts

Latest version (1.1.2) does not type endash and emdash properly on a German keyboard.

The endash does not appear entirely; when typing an emdash, a normal hyphen appears.

Just to make sure, I was not talking about the latest app store version (1.1.2), but about the latest Beta (1.0.21861):

https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/4128-affinity-designer-customer-beta-1021861/

I can only report the following:

  • In the app store version there is a bug with En dash and Em dash.
  • In the latest Beta I get an En dash by typing [Alt] + [-] and an Em dash by typing [shift] + [Alt] + [-], just as it is to be expected.

I am also using a German keyboard. Are you sure, we are talking about the same version? And does this happen with every font on your system? Strange ...

Hi dtpunger,

Welcome to Affinity Forums.

Despite the numbers, the Beta version is more advanced/recent than the MAS version.

This issue seems to be corrected in the latest beta. You can try it if you want. It doesn't interfere with the MAS version.

Note however that files saved with the Beta cannot be opened in the Current MAS version (1.1.2), because it doesn't include the latest improvements/fixes we already introduced in the beta.

The next Mac App Store update will include all this corrections and should fix this issue.

Hi, the shortcut of the "Soft Hyphen" is definitely a bug: "ALT- -" should not be used for shortcuts because we all need that dash. Is it possible to change the keyboard shortcuts in AD?

Oval, you are right, and the ALT- - shortcut was changed a while ago in the Customer Beta. It's now en-dash (and shift gives em-dash). This change should reach the app store version in a few weeks.

Short-cuts can't be changed by the user in Affinity yet, but that is something we plan to add later this year.

Thanks. :-( Customers payed for a functioning app and did not get that. The risk is, that they will not purchase the following products. Perhaps the app is too cheap. F. e. Mr. Lemke immediately programs features that customers want.
