graham_t
What is the best method of using a plug-in such as the grain reducing software Neat Image on a selected area of an image in Affinity?
John Rostron
Am I being too simplistic in suggesting the following: Duplicate the layer Apply the filter to the duplicate Use a mask to determine which parts of the filtered layer are shown. I have to admit I am no great user of masks! Quote Windows 10, Affinity Photo 1.10.5 Designer 1.10.5 and Publisher 1.10.5 (mainly Photo), now ex-Adobe CC CPU: AMD A6-3670. Fixx
Simpler would be: 1. Select area (modify/feather as needed) 2. Use plugin. Layer method gives more precision admittedly.
dke
Simpler would be: 1. Select area (modify/feather as needed) 2. Use plugin. Layer method gives more precision admittedly. Using this simple and natural method leads in many cases to an empty or corrupted preview in the plugin. This bug in AP's plugin support has already been discussed several times. For example here https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/30667-plugin-support-is-still-bad-in-version-15044/
graham_t
Thanks to those who have replied. I shall try the duplicate layer method and see how I get on with that.
carl123
You can also try 1. Make your selection 2. Copy Selection 3. File > New from Clipboard 4. Use the plug-in on the new document, then copy back to original document Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum.
