markmckay
Hi, It seems that emoji’s are not support on the iPad version of the app when typing with the text tool. It shows an X in a box, instead of the selected emoji. This was a feature that I had expected when I purchased. Is it something that you can/will add in a future update? Thank you. Staff Lee D Posted June 26, 2017 Staff Share Posted June 26, 2017 Hi markmckay, Welcome to the forums. Affinity Photo doesn't support emojis, support may be added in the future but I cannot say when. DigitalWatson

tk0
As a workaround, you can create a document containing the desired emojis, for example, in Apple Pages and save it as a PDF. If you open that PDF in Affinity Photo or Designer you can select each emoji as an idividual layer and copy/paste it into your own document. The emojis in the PDF are pixel graphics and don’t have that much resolution. But at least, they have a transparent background. For some use cases, it will do. See attached examples. DigitalWatson
Here we are nearly two years after the original post and it does not appear that there is support for emojis yet. At least not on the iPad version of the software. cgaffka and CanRau 1

Emoji support is in 1.10, currently available to beta-test, and becoming available as a retail release relatively soon.
