Raw Files from DJI Drones won't work.

Recommended Posts

I've purchased the app for my iPad Pro (10.5").

I use my iPad Pro as a monitor for DJI drones and I thought having this app on my iPad is a great idea.

iPad or iPhone is a must to fly drones and bringing a laptop is an option to view and edit on the field.

But with this app, I thought I can do both without my laptop.

So I tried to load raw files from my drones but they won't be loaded.

It looks like DJI raw files are not supported. (Probably the iOS problem)

I am probably barking at the wrong tree but hope Affinity can help on this.

I don't have any other cameras but drone cameras.

If the app won't work with DJI raw files. I just wasted $20 on this app.

I like the app a lot but if it won't be supported, I will have to ask for a refund.

Hi woni30,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

Currently Affinity Photo for iPad relies on iOS system level support - Apple (Core Image RAW) - to convert/process RAW's, so we depend on Apple to add support for DJI drones. At his point I don't know if we will add our own RAW engine (Serif Labs) to the iPad version (which does support DJI files). I will try to find out.

@MEB I am very curious on this too. I am able to use Lightroom (on 10.5" iPad) with no issues, and occasionally when I export as dng from Lightroom (from my mac, for example), they work in Affinity (same device, same exact files, to be clear). I read in another thread that part of the issue is that it treats the photo as having a width and height of 0, causing the crash. Hopefully this info is helpful.
