Yes you can but it will default per text tool so you will have to do it with both. Just select the tool then the font you would like to be default for that tool and go to Edit > Defaults > Save :)

When you say do it with both, what both I understand the text tool but where else?I don't see how to set a font as my default.

Both The Artistic Text Tool and the Paragraph Text Tool

Select the Artistic text tool

Set a font in whatever size you want it to be as the default

Go to the menu Edit > Defaults > Save (see pic)

That will save that text option for Artistic text as whatever you just set it for as the default

 

If you want to save the Frame Text tool with a default too

Set the font style as whatever you want, then repeat Edit > Defaults > Save
