breakofdawn
Is it possible to have the brush outline persist on screen (the one that shows up when you change the brush size). After you change the size of the brush, that feedback disappears and makes detail editing and masking difficult without seeing the edges of the brush. Not sure of this is possible, but it seems like it could get complicated, but with the new 120hz refresh rate on the new iPads...maybe? kaeckisthename
Yes, they definitely need to add an option to show the brush cursor. Xsyen and davemacdo
jeffreymo
Adding my request for seeing the brush edge (and preferably feather range) while using in all tools (brush, clone stamp, eraser, etc). Absolutely needed to do fine work. Massi, kaeckisthename and Xsyen

sophiajcaldwell
Yes please add the option to have the brush outline. I was trying to touch up a photo yesterday and it's really tricky when you can't see what areas your brush is affecting. Thank you! RIO XL
Just wanted to support this request. Having the brush footprint visible helps me when retouching portraits. It's very common to apply brush sizes that cover naturally occurring contours of the body and face. Currently, it takes a lot of trial and error. Having this feature would speed up my process. I would suggest adding it as an option that can be toggled on/off in case some people find it obtrusive. kaeckisthename, Xsyen and sophiajcaldwell
wgphoto
I, along with quite a few others, have requested this as well. I think they know we want it and just need to figure out a good way to implement it. Other top requests are modifier keys and non-destructive RAW editing kaeckisthename 1 Quote iPad Pro 12.9 M1/Mac Mini M1, in that order

kaeckisthename
This feature alone would make this a Photoshop substitute, currently I still need to export to PSD for masking and refined brush work. Xsyen
Rabt
I would love to see this option as well . Would be really handy when deleting backgrounds as well as Dodge and burn tools. Rabt Xsyen

DM1
Perhaps they could use the selected brush size setting to reset the size of the current 'show touches' circle? Then use the brush colour setting to update the'show touches' colour. That way Show Touches would act as a useful brush cursor. Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). cormaction
sorry to dig this up from the depths of time but +1 in this. Would be really useful to see what I’m doing when erasing/masking and precision brush strokes. Has there been an update on this? cheers

Tobias.VFX
I would like to know if this is available as well. Not having cursor feedback is very difficult in a lot of situations.
Neeraj.kidynamite
yes i recently started working on affinity photo on my ipad and i noticed there is no brush preview while brushing . so it would be great if we get that function and also if we get brush angle control like Photoshop have that would be great. Brianrolfephoto
I as really hoping to see the brush cursor added in 1.8, it’s the one thing on the iPad version that stops it from being perfect! 😭
araninger
I'm very surprised this hasn't been done yet. Outline of the brush when painting and erasing is essential stuff. It's like painting with real tools but they are invisible. Phojoegraphy

Phojoegraphy
+1 for show brush cursor while painting request. Procreate, (iPad app,) shows a size accurate brush cursor outline when painting, so it can be implemented. Seeing the brush edge is invaluable for masking rather than an exercise in frustration that it currently is with AP on the iPad. Honestly, it's the one thing that keeps me from using it more. araninger

araninger
Ok I got tired waiting. Affinity Photo is made for people working with photos. It's quite obvious where the focus lies. I would suggest that artists that paint for a living to take a look at Artstudio Pro. It got most of the bells and whistles you could ask for as brush outline and non destructive painting with live filters and so on. It's fast and rock solid. Even their betas are stable.
