How many fonts do I have to trim down? Looks like there is 245 on my machine now.

That doesn't seem excessive to me. I would think it is a 'normal' number of fonts.

I get the "Failed to Open File" message box saying that "The file could not be opened because permission was denied".

This sounds like the problem people have with networked drives, are you saving to one of those?

I cut down to 139 fonts, still having the problem.

And no, I get that message regardless of if I open a file from the local hard drive or a network drive. I’m usually opening the files from my local drive.

So.

- Affinity doesn't launch suddenly, and hang indefinitely without any error message at all.

- If you want to launch an Affinity File you get " Permissions Denied" as a fantastic message.

And all that because you have too many Fonts activated ?! Thanks to this Forum to spare my Life, because I spent three hours figuring out this one.

"Permissions Denied" Very useful message, Thank You very Much.

I am still having this problem. It still behaves exactly the same way even with the latest version of Affinity Pro and the latest version of MacOS. Has anyone discovered a way to fix this yet?

Similar problem.  New to Affinity.  Worked on 4 or 5 photos snd saved in a folder.  Now I get ".... don't have permission.   Online with Apple for 3 hours.  All other programs work.  Have never messed with fonts except to select one from the Factory list.   How can files saved by an Ap  not "have permission" to reopen.   I found if I go to "Finder" and click on the same file - it opens, but that is too time consuming when working to update an image already in the  .afphoto   file protocol.
