angusshmangus
hi - thanks for the reply. i'm not sure. when i press ALT D it does not reset the foreground and background colors back to black and white.... in photoshop there was an icon you could press to reset the foreground and background colors to black and white... Alfred
I think Andrew ('verysame') must have customized his keyboard shortcuts. I use D on its own for 'Set Fill to Black and White' but I'm pretty sure there is no default shortcut for this. Affinity Photo doesn't have an icon that you can click on to reset the colours. Staff MEB Posted June 1, 2017 Staff Share Posted June 1, 2017 Hi angusshmangus, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) There's no default shortcut for setting the fill to black and white. You have to set it yourself in Affinity Photo Preferences, Keyboard Shortcuts section, setting the first dropdown to Photo and the second to Miscellaneous and looking for that entry on the list. angusshmangus
Thanks for the replies so far. I am still unsure as to how to get both the foreground/background icon to show in the colour palette. sometimes its there, sometimes it isn't. I need this icon to show so that I can use perlin noise otherwise the filter doesn't work...
Staff MEB Posted June 2, 2017 Staff Share Posted June 2, 2017 Hi angusshmangus, If sometimes only one colour appears in the Colour panel it's probably because you have the Gradient Tool selected. Change to the Move Tool (or another tool) to display both the foreground and background colours. RNKLN
Background/foreground wells will be shown, however only when you've two or more columns in the tool palette (View - Customise Tools…). There's no reset icon but there is a default shortcut (D) to reset them. It is supposed to be visible when you go to the Preferences for this (the description of this feature maybe could be improved). I have no problems with the way it is implemented. RNKLN
I'm not familiar with the Windows version. Strange that the same shortcut isn't available there. Wosven
You need to set it to D on Windows versions, it's blank by default.
