AP Develop Exposure - Blackpoint/Brightness

Recommended Posts

Hi pjglad

In the develop persona there is a blackpoint adjustment available which does a similar effect to blacks, there is also another method, in the Photo person, under the layer, new adjustment layer, levels adjustment there is an option to adjust the black and white levels.

This feature has been requested, I have put a link below to thread.

Both are similar, Brightness will preserve the highlights and is usually used for adjusting midtones whereas adjusting the Exposure will blow them out.

Then Brightness adjusts gamma and Exposure adjust white point?

I too am confused by the Brightness control - if it preserves the highlights, the word "brightness" is rather misleading, and I agree with Fixx that what the "Brightness" control really does is probably more akin to a gamma adjustment, and if that's what it does, it would be better to simply rename the Brightness control to Gamma.
