I noticed, that since a few days Affinity Photo did not read the exif data from my jpgs. Now i found this happens since i activated a program a restricts starting of programs of those who are installed under ProgramFiles or ProgramFiles(x86) (to avoid a visit of WannaCry or something else). If I turn this of exif data get read. Does photo use an external exe, that is not in the default program directory to read and write the exif data?

Hi bwerne33

Affinity Photo uses exiftool to read the EXIF data of images, this is stored in the Resources folder within the apps program folder in Program Files. The process is only called for a split second when an image is open. If the program you're running have an option to create a rule, if so create one which doesn't block this process from running.

Hi,

thank you for the answer, but the problem still remains. The resources folder is under the Progam Files folder, so the exiftool should run also whitout an addtional rule (so it does with the program geosetter wich also uses exiftool). Nevertheless I added a rule for the exiftool.exe but it still don't work. The software I use uses the windows function that is also used by the "Software Restriction Policies" of the windows einterprise editions.
