mk1978
First, sorry for such a newbie question! I would like to create this kind of 3d/shading effect to my rendered 2d image, see below. What is this kind of effect called and is this possible with Affinity Photo? I have been trying to find some tutorials (Affinity, Gimp, pain.net, etc.) but I am not sure what this is actualy called. My current render: img host This is what I would like to achieve: img host
Renzatic
That's easy enough to do. Select your three sand pits (assuming they're on their own layers), go to your effects tab, and apply an inner shadow. Set the angle around 45 degrees-ish to get it to match the shadowing in your example.
Staff MEB Posted May 9, 2017 Staff Share Posted May 9, 2017 Hi mk1978, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) You may also try the 3D Effect and the Bevel/Emboss (don't forget to change the type to an appropriate setting in the first dropdown). Depending on their settings you can easily simulate both recessed/protuberant shapes/areas. mk1978
Thanks for support, this was exactly what I needed!
Renzatic
Yeah, the emboss effect would be better for what you're going for, since it'd apply the highlight on the opposite edge. ...should've thought of that. :P
mk1978
One additional question about applying the earlier mentioned effects. Is it possible to save the effect settings to a file and apply them to another image? I would need to set the same effects to 36 similar images, which is the reason why I ask. Staff MEB Posted May 25, 2017 Staff Share Posted May 25, 2017 Hi mk1978, No, it's no possible to save them as presets, but you can copy (menu Edit ▸ Copy) the effects from a source object and paste them on the others using Edit ▸ Paste FX (or pressing ⌃(ctrl) + ⌘ (cmd) + V). fernandolins86
MEB, wouldn't saving as a Style be like saving as a preset? Video: https://youtu.be/VXwCZnZ4S5s?t=1m53s
