any status on progress?

The only "status" will be when (or if) it appears in a beta for testing.

the other way around.  Does it exist?  Surely it does, six years after this thread started?

Surprisingly it sort of "does" for quite a few years already, albeit via Publisher only, and it's very "crude". But it may work well enough for a bunch of specific scenarios:

MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2

Just came looking for this, and v2.0 is out.  The feature list says "Convert shapes to selections" but doesn't mention the other way around.  Does it exist?  Surely it does, six years after this thread started?

Hi @Glinkot,
No, there wasn't changes here since then, sorry.

Just changed to Affinity and regret it at the moment. Converting selections to shapes is such a basic functionality in everyday work. Since this is missing, the Affinity Suite is almost useless for me...

If only there were an unlimited 30-days trial version which you could test for free before buying, huh? O.o

Oh!

Wait!
