davemac2015
When you've created a new file from the clipboard and then want to save it, currently you're unable to use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+S to save it - you have to use Ctrl+Shift+S for Save As... What I'd like to see is Photo understand that, "Hey! Even though the person behind the keyboard has hit Ctrl+S to Save, I, being the ridiculously cleaver and talented package of software code, AKA Affinity Photo, understand that they're actually trying to Save As...! I will graciously translate their ham-handed keyboard floundering to the correct form and open up the Save As... dialog for them!" :) AbaBuiplelip
paristo
There is a bug. It does work but the problem is that when you select "New from the clipboard" then the new document isn't marked as "modified" and doesn't allow to be saved. If you do something to the new document so it gets marked as "modified" then Ctrl+S will pop-up the "Save As..." dialog correctly. So the question is, when new document is created, should it be marked as "modified" at the start? The image properties on top would then say: <Untitled> [modified] (%) And that would be needed to be done when just creating a new document, even when user has not modified it by any means! The name "modified" should probably be renamed as [unsaved] as that would indicate the user that the document has not been saved, even when it is without a title. Maybe even the whole <Untitled> should be removed as well and just have that <unsaved> at the topic as then user knows it hasn't been saved, so it clearly doesn't have a document title... davemac2015
davemac2015
Aha! Thank you - just tried it and it works. Until it gets fixed, this will save me some hair-pulling :D
Alfred
If you do something to the new document so it gets marked as "modified" then Ctrl+S will pop-up the "Save As..." dialog correctly. Furthermore, if you undo whatever you've done it still remains marked as "modified" (although it shouldn't, IMO) so you can use Ctrl+S to 'Save As...' exactly as it was when pasted from the clipboard. davemac2015 1 Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.4.1 (iPad 7th gen)
