I'm loving getting started with Affinity Designer. It's an incredible product.

A question:

How can I convert a bitmap (png) image into a vector graphic. In other words how can I trace a logo displayed as a solid color in a bitmap?

I'm sort of doing it using masks but suspect that there is a better way to go.

Any help will be gratefully received.

Thanks

Martin

Hello TheVole,

Welcome to Affinity Forums.

If it's a simple logo you can trace it manually using the Pen Tool (and eventually the Shapes Tool).

There's some video tutorials on Vimeo that may help you get started:

- Pen Power!

- Using Shapes in Affinity Designer

There's also a great tutorial made by @CartoonMike - The Pumpkin Tutorial - that goes in great detail about how to draw in Affinity Designer.

Finally, Affinity Review - our new ezine (ibooks format) - covers the Pen Tool extensively in its first issue, with video tutorials showing how to get the most of it.
