Shortcut for undo paste inside?

There is a shortcut to past an object inside another. Is there a shortcut to undo that? I only see the multi-step option to find the pasted object in the layers panel and release....

Just use CMD + Z on Mac or CTRL + Z on Windows to undo.

That only works immediately after the 'Paste Inside' command. There's no way to release the object later on, other than via the Layers panel: there isn't even a 'Release' command on the context menu when you right-click the object after selecting it on the canvas.

Yes, Alfred - that is the issue...

 

You can hold down option/command and individually select pasted items, cut and the paste  - but it's a mult-step pain if you have lots of items pasted into a shape.

Hi, if you're talking about objects created using Paste Inside under the Edit menu then I don't  know of a 'shortcut' other than Undo, as Alfred says. But I often separate pasted objects later by using the layers menu. Any object that is pasted inside another, like a picture mask, automatically creates what looks like a group in the layers menu - though it isn't an editable group. Select the masked object, go to the layers menu and click on the left arrow to open the 'group' and option-click on the sub thumbnail that appears underneath the main layer. Select Release from the popup menu and the Pasted Inside object and mask will become two separate objects, as they were before the Paste Inside was done. N
