How to specify a specific proportional percent change in object size in AP and AD

Recommended Posts

Hello Out there

How to specify a specific proportional percent change in object size.

As a simple example, say I construct a simple rectangle with the rectangle tool.

The resulting rectangle will appear to have handles.

I can squeeze down these  handles  at a 45 deg angle to get a proportionally changed new rectangle.

INSTEAD OF DOING THIS, is there a direct tool of some sort (like in say illustrator), where I can simply specify the desired percent change in the rectangle?

In fact a more advanced version would allow the user to specify different percentages in the vertical and horizontal directions.

Have you tried typing the desired percentages into the Transform panel? Like 97% (note the percentage sign). If the w/h has the link showing, typing a percentage into one will apply to the other. Unlinked you can enter separate values.

Those fields also allow simple math operators.

thanks for reply!!

i had a little problem finding the transform panel, mainly because it is labeled "xfm" when not active.

Then it turns into "transform" when you click on it.

Second, unless you gave the guidance , i never would have figured out that in place of "in."  as the size of W and H,

the user could type in a percentage as the size change as long as he uses the % symbol.

"Xfm" is an abbreviation used when the tabbed group of Studio panels is too narrow to show the full names of all the tabs. You will see the same thing for History (His), navigation (Nvg), Snapshots (Snp), etc. if they are in a Studio tab group too narrow to show all their full names.

Drag horizontally on the vertical divider between the workspace & Studio to increase/decrease the width allocated to the Studio. Also, panels can be added or removed from tabbed groups, moved to other tabbed groups, or dragged out so they "float" in the display. Refer to the Workspace > Customize > Customizing the workspace built-in help topic for more about how to do that.

There is also a list of all the expressions usable in various text fields in the built-in help at Workspace > More > Expressions for field input.
