Moving artboards around displaces object slices

Recommended Posts

Sometimes moving artboards around displaces object slices. To duplicate, load the attached file, move the artboard called Buggy a little bit, then go to the Export persona. You'll see something like the attached image. If you select a slice, you see the selection handles are actually where they should be. To fix it, move the slice, then Undo.

I hope you get it.

Also back to automatic size is broken. All of my artboards have size 500×500 pixel but the automatic slices have 500×501 or 501×500 or 501×501 but never 500×500.

Back to Illustrator…

You may set pixel decimal places to 6 in Preferences > User Interface to see if your objects are actually aligned with integer pixels. Sometimes I found out that they weren't.

Hi Babelfisch,

This is because the artboards coordinates are not integer values. As @rubs pointed out go to the Preferences, User Interface section and set Pixels in the Decimal Places for Unit Types to 6, then select each artboard and fix (delete) the additional decimal places from the coordinates fields (X,Y) in the Transform panel. To prevent this from happening in the future make sure you enable Force Pixel Alignment in the Snapping Manager (menu View ▸ Snapping Manager...) or in the main toolbar. Also make sure you don't duplicate artboards with ⌥ (option/alt) since it overrides the snapping when duplicating objects/artboards. Use ⌘ (cmd) instead which doesn't override it.
