Gear maker
What is the meaning of the blue box around the Style none selection in the stroke pulldown panel on the left side of the screen? See attached. Quote iMac (27-inch, Late 2009) with macOS Sierra
Codename Capri
I have no blue box surrounding it. But the meaning of the button is, that you have no line at all. But i don't figured out, how to get a textured line (the third option).
Gear maker
Every version so far has had the blue box shown in the attached picture, only on the left Stroke panel. To get a dashed line simply draw a line or an object. Select the dashed (third) option. Adjust the thickness of the stoke until the desired weight is achieved, until it's about 3 pt thick it's hard to see under the bounding box. Then at the bottom of the stoke panel there will be a line Dash: 1 1 0 0 Phase: 0. Change the first 1 to get the length of the dash you want. The second 1 is changed to affect the space between the dashes. The two 0's can be used to create a dish dot effect. The Phase controls where the line starts and ends. My first problem was not having the weight of the line thick enough to see the line. Quote iMac (27-inch, Late 2009) with macOS Sierra
Codename Capri
I don't have the dashed option. This is a beta feature. I just run the stable version. I mean the last option (texture). In the current stable version I have no blue rect. But maybe thats the focus? Sometimes the edit boxes got the focus, then they look similar. Gear maker
The third option then is using the brushes. Draw a line then go to the Stroke pallet and select the third option. Then go to the Brushes pallet (on the right of the screen) and select a brush you are interested in. There are some odd ones near the bottom of the default assortment which will show the effect the most. Click on one and the line you drew should change to use it. You can double click a brush to make some changes to it. You are right the dashed is in the beta. The new beta is pretty stable. Good luck.
