How to make a simple straight line with a SINGLE arrow at the tip.

Recommended Posts

I want to make a simple straight line with a SINGLE arrow at the tip.

when I used the arrow tool, it does two things I do not like:

1) it puts arrows at both ends

2) the thickness of the straight line is too wide in proportion to the head of the arrow.

For example when I do this in illistrator, I would make the straight line and attach the arrow head with a second operation, when there are several options as to the shape of the arrow head (more pointed, less pointed etc).

Hi kalinoaj,

Unfortunately, there is not yet a tool to make arrowheads. This is a function that is requested by many people and that may be implemented in a future update.

If you do a search on the forum, you will find many posts about it.

There isn't yet a tool to add arrowheads to vector curves, but it is possible to customize arrows drawn with the Arrow Tool on the Shape Tools flyout. When you select the Arrow Tool, the Context toolbar displays dropdown lists for both ends, allowing you to set the end style for either (or both!) to 'None'; there is also a Thickness control whose default setting is 35%, but offering the full range from 0% to 100%. You can also make both the head and the tail more pointed or less pointed, as desired.

I agree but people also ask heads applicable directly to lines other than straight and it is not easy to modify these ready-made arrows.

For my part when I need an arrow, I make the curve and then I modify it to add the head and possibly the tail, but it is not a solution usable by professionals. I also expect this function in Designer.

I agree that we also need a choice of line ends, but the OP asked specifically about making a straight line with an arrow at one end (as well as indicating that the thickness of the line and the shape of the arrowhead should both be adjustable, which they are).

True, I have lost sight of the original demand. :(
