billgatto
Hi, I have a problem I'm realizing a price list, but I can not align numbers with decimals with the tab. There is a tutorial which explains well the procedure? Thank you
Guest
Hi billgato, I do not know if there is a direct method to get what you are looking for. You've probably already thought of it: you make two blocks of text, one for the text you justify on the left and one for the numbers you justify on the right. Then check the horizontal alignment of the two text blocks.
v_kyr
@billgato Note that the Euro signs are also not correctly aligned underneath each other in your above shown images! Further I would probably try to use the AD textstyles features here for this ... ... that should probably ease setting up your price list, once you've gone through customizing the textstyles the way you need them. Take a look into the AD online help system, there should be some explanations how to use and set up AD textstyles. At first it may look here like more work to do so (meaning setting up own custom textstyles), but since you can store and reload your made settings here, you can later reuse and modify them in case you have to do similar things in future. billgatto
Thanks for the advice, with regard to the solution to make two blocks of text is fine for a few lines, but if you have so many is not easy. Having used for many years Corel Draw find the Affinity system impractical. In Corel I can move, delete and add all of the tab directly in the worksheet. (look the attach file) I tried with the styles and is a good solution but I think you can speed up your workflow by placing a bar over the text block with the display of the tab you can change without entering the settings. v_kyr
Well the Corel Draw solution here looks indeed comfortable for these tasks, like the way word processors do handle it. You should place a feature request for the AD dev team for adding something like this when working on longer texts. Dave Harris
I think this is a localisation issue. To create a tabstop with decimal alignment, go to the Tab Stops section of a Paragraph panel, click on the + button (top-right) to add a tabstop, select it in the list, then change its alignment to decimal by clicking the last button in the top row on the right. However, I suspect this only works if your decimal separator is a full stop (U+002E), not for commas. I'll log this as a bug.
R C-R
Dave, I think billgatto is talking about the difficulty of setting tab stops in general in Affinity vs. in Corel Draw (or pretty much any word processing app), not decimal tabs stops specifically. Unless I am missing something, in AD clicking the plus button always adds a tab stop at the default increment value shown & set in the text field to the left of that button (& in AP 1.5.2 that text field seems to be MIA, although the "Default Tab Stops" tool tip pops up where it should be). Staff MEB Posted March 23, 2017 Staff Share Posted March 23, 2017 Dave is addressing the issue described by billgatto on its first post (see screenshot), that is, why the comma may have not worked on his example. R C-R
MEB, thanks for the clarification. I hope someone will also address the issue raised in his second post, & what I mentioned about AP 1.5.2 for Macs not showing a "Default Tab Stops" text entry field. EDIT: For whatever reason the default tab stop field has returned in AP 1.5.2 on my Mac, so this is apparently either not a bug or one triggered by something obscure. It may have something to do with the System Preferences > Accessibility > Increase Contrast setting. There is a longstanding bug in both AD & AP for Macs in that setting this changes the disclosure triangles for groups, layers, etc. in the Layers panel to a very faint, almost invisible grey color. While checking if this was still present in AD 1.5.5 & toggling that on & off, AD crashed. I then did the same toggle test with AP open. It did not crash but possibly that had something to do with the reappearance of the tab text field. billgatto
well, today I worked on setting price list a text style and I must say it works well enough if you are sure the final pagination but Corel's solution is much more practical for live changes.
