tonyrambler
Hello cleverer folks, Is there a way to lock the artboard without making everything else in the document inaccessible? It would be great if the artboard didn't get treated like just another object (eg. when Selecting All etc) and could simply be passive like the "page" itself once it has been set up. Thanks! R C-R
I don't believe there is any way to do that. But as far as I know, on the canvas or in the Layers panel the only way to select an artboard itself is to click on its name -- Select All should only select all the objects on all the artboards & any objects not part of any artboard, but exclude all artboards. tonyrambler
Yes, you're right. It wasn't Select All that does it. My bad. I remember what it is now—I can't sweep-select the whole thing without snagging the artboard too. Thanks for replying t
Staff MEB Posted March 16, 2017 Staff Share Posted March 16, 2017 Hi tony, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Even selecting the whole thing on the canvas shouldn't select/pick the artboard - only the objects contained within -. The only way to select the artboard on canvas is clicking the artboard's name on the top left of the artboard. Isn't this working for you? juby and Chapit Zulkefli 1 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
tonyrambler
Yes, I just tried and you're right as well. Goodness knows. I just know that more than once over a few hours I found myself waving the artboard around. I'll update you next time it happens, unless I'm too embarassed by how, thanks, Tony
Staff MEB Posted March 16, 2017 Staff Share Posted March 16, 2017 There's no need to be embarrassed. ^_^ It happens with us all. Sometimes it may be an occasional a glitch or a bug happening in very specific circumstances... Lets us know if you find a way to reproduce it. Isn't this working for you? after a long search, finally i found this as solution. i'm trying to get use to it but sometimes i still accidentally clicked on it. i wonder if future, would Affinity set this feature only adjustable if we used the artboard tool or not? seems that much easier than accidentally selected the artboard name, then moved/resized it. just suggestion.
