ayoli
hi everyone, i'm using affinity designer 1.5.2.58 and affinity photo 1.5.1.54 on windows. i can't export to PDF in both affinity designer and affinity photo, even blank documents. i can export to all the other formats but when ever i'm trying to export to PDF estimate file size is stuck on calculating (even in a blank document) and I get the attached error report while exporting. this is a really critical feature for me to send design to our printers. so i really need your help. thank in advance ayoli
Staff Lee D Posted March 15, 2017 Staff Share Posted March 15, 2017 Hi ayoli, Welcome to the forums. Which colour mode is your document set to, before exporting? Have you tried exported to a different location, like direct on the root of C:
ayoli
Hi Thanks for your really prompt reply. I've tried many different setting including changing colour modes through RGB/8 and /16 CMYK. I've tried exporting to drive C and D, desktop and different folders I've uninstalled Acrobat, NItro PDF and Corel draw to check for conflicts I've logged in as guest, me and administrator and tried to export from those accounts.\All display the same error Estimate files size: calculated and then cannot export pdf. Shall I delete and reinstall both Affinity designer and Affinity Photo?

Staff Lee D Posted March 20, 2017 Staff Share Posted March 20, 2017 ayoli, I Thanks for the file, I've exported it to PDF from Affinity Designer on Windows, without any issues. Calculating time takes a few seconds and results in the file being around 23.09kb. Can you export to other formats without any issues? Staff Lee D Posted March 27, 2017 Staff Share Posted March 27, 2017 Try creating a new test user account in Windows and then try exporting to the Desktop as nothing seems to be wrong with the file.

ayoli
I have just downloaded the latest beta of Affinity Designer to see if that would change things and unfortunately still have the same problem. The symptoms are as follows. When I choose PDF Export on any file - even blank files - in both Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo The bottom line of the screen is stuck on Estimated File Size: Calculating… (I have left this for hours and it doesn’t resolve) All other file types work perfectly. Changing PDF settings does not seem to make any difference Changing colour mode does not make any difference Then this immediately appears: An error occurred while exporting to: filepath The file could not be created Clearly it is not a problem with the files as: The files can be blank; and If I email them to my colleague’s Mac System they work fine. And you report no error. It must be with the way affinity and Windows handle PDF export. All adobe products are fine, same with Corel Draw. It’s only affinity products that are affected. Some other users seem to have reported the same or a similar problems in these forums, both on this thread and (for example) https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/28912-cannot-export-pdf/?p=140251 We would love to use Affinity products in our office but pdf export is a critical feature as we often use complex Tamil and Sinhala fonts for many of our print documents. So will have to stay with our existing workflow if this is not resolved. I’m running Windows 7.1 and AD 1.5.2 and AP 1.5.1 I have set my region to and Language to English UK Please help - btw should I post this in the bugs forum?
