LucidSurf
Hello, Have a job that I need printed professionally. The print companies are using Adobe Illustrator. Theyre having quite the time opening my files designed and exported in Designer. I have made attempts with .EPS, .PDF and .SVG exports.the only ones they can open are the .SVG file and a few elements are missing. Seems to be some sort of coding between the 2 programs despite the file export. Is this the case? Way around it? I don't want Illustrator, became too comfy with Designer! MikeW
I would be remiss if I did not say: find a different print establishment. In no way should a PDF ever be opened for editing when the purpose is to print it. But OK. It can happen. So try unchecking Use Advanced Features (or whatever the language is under the More Options in the PDF export dialog). Or, just make a high-resolution JPG for the Luddites and be done with it. LucidSurf
MikeW.. thank you! I had the "use advanced features" checked as I thought it was an option that allowed the changes in the "More" export to be used. My newbie mistake. LucidSurf
Now that's for a PDF. Why does it happen for an EPS file? Is it the metadata option?
MikeW
As regards EPS, I think that export format from AD is currently unreliable if the goal is to export vector as vector. But a lot depends on the contents of the file--so without the file I have no idea if much would be rasterized or not. I also do not know the parameters of the job, which makes it sort of difficult to say why I would even choose EPS over a PDF. In general, I will always use PDF. I can test your output in AI, but it would also be best to have the AD file. If you do not mind sharing it, you can upload a ZIP of the files the print establishment had issues with along with the AD file. If it needs to be kept private, upload to a place like dropbox and PM me a download link. Mike
