mitram6
Hello, I am new to this software. I am checking some tutorials, and I realised that some of the pictures has "pixel" label in the videos (in the layer section). Therefore, the pixel selection tools works on them. However, when I insert a picture it gets "image" label. How can I insert a picture with "pixel" label. I tried to also create a pixel layer then insert a pic but didn't work. Thanks, Mitra
Staff MEB Posted March 8, 2017 Staff Share Posted March 8, 2017 Hi mitram6, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) If you drag and image from Finder or Window Explorer to an existing document or use the File ▸ Place command menu, the image will be inserted as an (Image) layer type. This is considered and object layer type and retains all original image data so you never lose quality when you transform them on canvas (scale, rotate, skew etc). Image layers cannot be edited at a pixel level. For that you need to convert them to a (Pixel) layer type. To do this right-click the image layer int he Layers panel and select Rasterise.... The image layer will be rasterised taking in consideration the DPI value set in the Document Setup. All images opened directly using the File ▸ Open command are also opened as Pixel layers.
