jeathray
Can you import old Adobe Illustrator files (CS2)? What format do they have to be in? Can you import scanned images to use as templates, place them on a separate layer and turn them off and on?
Staff MEB Posted December 13, 2014 Staff Share Posted December 13, 2014 Hi jeathray, Welcome to Affinity Forums. Affinity relies on the PDF stream of ai files to import data. Since those are old files i believe it may have trouble importing them. Only Dave Harris, Ben or Matt can give you a definite answer about this. Yes, you can import raster images into Affinity, place them on independent layers and turn them on/off. Note there's no interface to scan images directly from Affinity. You can only import them. jeathray
Thanks MEB, I downloaded the trial version of Designer and was able to open most of my old illustrator files that I had saved on a backup HD! When you select the file under "Open" it actually tells you if it is an Affinity openable file. Now I can let my recently departed G5 iMac rest in peace instead of looking for another to transplant it's HD into.
