Automatically create backup file when saving replaces existing file

Not "automatic", but isn't this what the Snapshots feature is for?

OK.  (This is the process for Photo; I don't think Designer has this feature?)

First, make sure that "View>Studio>Snapshots is ticked".

When you have made a change to your photo go to the right hand studio tabs and find "Snapshots" (for me this one of the set of tabs at the lower part of the screen).  With this tab visible you will see 3 icons on its menu bar, 2 "cameras" and a bin.  Clicking on the second camera allows you to take a snapshot of the file as it then is (you will be asked to name it, the default is current date and time).  You can make as many snapshots as you like, I think.

Then if you later need to go back to any of the snapshots, simply highlight its name and click on the first camera.  If you decide a snapshot is not needed to be kept, again highlight its name and click on the bin icon.

Hope that helps.

Jeff

UPDATE: Designer does have this feature also!
