Yes, select the object(s) you want to align, click on the Arranje icon on the top toolbar, click on the alignment button you want (Align Left, Align Center etc) - this will make the Align to drop down options available - and select Spread from that drop down.

Shouldn't this be available by default? And what does Margin and Spread actually mean?

Welcome to Affinity Forums.

It is available by default. It wasn't appearing for @sethif because he customized the interface and eventually removed it by mistake.

 

Align to Spread means the objects will be aligned in relation to the whole page (the white background); Align to Margin will align the objects in relation to the margins defined in the Document Setup dialog. The margins define the area of the page that will not be printed. They can be defined manually in the Document Setup or use the settings of your desktop printer.
