p_mac
Tried to open Affinity Photo 1.5.2 beta 4 and this message pops up. Then the app crashed. So I downloaded Beta 4 again as there doesn't seem to be a new beta nor a new update on the MAS. Still getting the beta expired. Is there a new beta coming and you have just shut down the last one too soon. anon1 and Tatyana

Staff MEB Posted February 27, 2017 Staff Share Posted February 27, 2017 This Beta 1.5.2 (Beta 4) has expired. It's not supposed to work anymore. There should be another one out soon. pruus 1 A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
LilleG
Huh! I had assumed (yeah, I know) that the betas "phoned home" to see if a new beta had been issued before expiring. So there's a date involved too?

LilleG
I think I'll just wait. I'd rather not have emails and messages scrambled. That would be confusing not only for me but for anyone I communicate with from the Mac.
Lojza
Sirs, you should seriously reconsider this "Beta has expired" feature. It's been discussed here many times and I dare to guess that this is rather annoying thing for many users. There are plenty of us using the beta versions on regular basis, with presets, brushes, etc. It's really cumbersome to make regular MAC version running the way we use beta. Is there any valid reason why the beta should expire unless there is a newer beta available? On a flattering note: you've managed to release rather stable betas over time, so in my experience (using AD/AP betas on daily basis) there's no real need to prefer MAC versions over betas. p_mac
My workaround for this and to keep the date mostly intact, set the clock back to last Monday, open AP beta, then you can set the clock back to today. Need to do this each time you open. A bit of a pain but I have been working on something that needs the beta so I will deal with it this way. Thanks for the tip MBd. anon1
