Recommended peripherals for Affinity Designer such as large trackpads

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I've been using Affinity Designer only for about 2 weeks but I have been extremely happy with the product and I've learned it very quickly. My clients are quite happy with the results I've been able to provide so far. I am looking for stories and anecdotes of people using peripherals for Affinity Designer such as large trackpads, and anything that you'd like to add or suggest in terms of becoming faster and more productive with this tool.

I am a PC user though, and I am looking for ways to extend Affinity. I want to extend it physically, and allow me to explain what I mean by that. I am looking at the added benefits of using Affinity Designer with potentially use an external device such as a Logitech T650 touch pad, Apple Magic Trackpad 2, or even a 3D mouse.

My current setup is pretty straightforward - currently I use Affinity across 3 monitors, and I use an Apple aluminum wired keyboard with flat/chicklet style keys. Speaking of: I have not seen keyboard stickers for Affinity but I am going all-in and I'd love to hear some suggestions.

I'm especially interested in hearing about people's use of Affinity with large external multitouch trackpad surfaces, and any gestures & customization they have found helpful when using the product

Thank you,

SH

I can't contribute much to this other than to say that if you are a PC user the Apple Magic Trackpad 2 won't work with your system because it requires OS X v10.11 or later. So at best it would function as a mouse pointer, but probably not recognize any clicks or gestures & certainly not Force (two level) Touch.

Regarding other devices, searching the forum on "trackpad" or "graphics tablet" should show you several topics that discuss using them with the Affinity apps.

All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.4.1 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7
Affinity Photo

Perhaps not exactly what you asked for but https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/35450-windows-keyboard-shortcut-cheatsheet/?p=174387 gives links to pdf files for keyboard shortcuts for both Photo and Designer, along with a template to allow you to create your own version, I think.

Oh I definitely did search. Searching for Trackpad, the results are only my post and now yours. :) But thank you for the suggestion.

Try searching for "graphics tablet" instead.

You did something wrong.

I just searched for Trackpad and got 145 results

Check your search parameters

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

I'm sorry - you're right - I didn't see the "This Thread" option was on by default. The faint text made it hard to read, to me. But it's a little bit like a dog standing in front of a mirror and barking. I'm an idiot. Thanks for your help.
