Lost the circle showing brush size on Surface Pro 4

Recommended Posts

I can not see the size of a brush in APhoto on my Surface Pro 4 running Windows 10 and cannot find any settings that affect the cursor appearance?

Usually on a 'Surface', the left and right square cursor keys, below the "="  key will decrease or increase the size.  Also with the brush tools, holding down the left and right mouse keys and the Alt key, then moving the mouse left and right will decrease and increase the brush size.  If you then move the mouse up or down it will additionally adjust the hardness of the brush.

Please see screen copy attached.  Hope it helps?

Additionally, the brushes are controlled from the brush panel on the top right, (ringed in blue), extra brush types are available from the lower tab, by left mouse clicking the "Basic" tab.

There should be an 'Edit' link at the bottom of each of your posts. :)

Please could a moderator move this thread to the Bugs section.

I need a solution to this problem because it is making it difficult to use the brush for dodging and burning, something I do a lot.

This forum is really helpful, but it's rather hit and miss when it comes to something that needs a solution. It depends on catching the attention of someone at Serif who can figure out what is going on here. I suppose I can always do a factory reset of the Surface Pro 4 and start from scratch. Uninstalling APh did not help beacuase reinstalling picked up some settings from the previous installation.

Uninstalling APh did not help because reinstalling picked up some settings from the previous installation.

With APh closed, press the Ctrl key on your keyboard and keep it held down while you launch the program. The Clear User Data dialog will pop up, and pressing the 'Clear' button will cause some of the settings to be reset; if that doesn't solve the problem, try again but press 'Select All' before pressing 'Clear'.

Many thanks, Alfred.  That helped.

I can now see the inner circle of the brush, showing hardness, but still no outer circle showing the size of the brush.I'm beginning to wonder if I ever saw that outer brush on the Surface Pro 4 tablet. It would be really helpful to hear from someone who has a Surface Pro 4. I've only had this tablet for 3-4 weeks.
