Questions about Affinity Designer

Recommended Posts

So I have been using Affinity Designer for bout a month now and completely pleased with it. However there are a few things I have questions about.

First is the font options. Is there was to add more fonts to designer?

Also when I create a design and it has numbers and I print them off a lot of times the numbers print out with vertical and horizontal lines around them. How do I go about getting rid of that?

Finally, I was wondering how i can cut and crop things outside of just squares?

Love the program outside of these things I got questions about.

Thank you, Chance

You don't add fonts to Designer; you add fonts in the operating system you are working on. Software uses only what is installed in the OS. :)

You should provide an example for this.

You should provide an example for this too :P This could mean vector crop tool, export slices, document export ...

You can create a shape with the pen tool or compounds and transform it to mask for what is beneath. (Select it in Layers panel, right click, "Mask to below").

Welcome to the Serif  Affinity Forums, dexter84. :)

Affinity Designer will use any OpenType, TrueType or PostScript Type 1 fonts that are installed on your computer. If you install them while the program is running, it will detect this and reload the font cache automatically.

Also when I create a design and it has numbers and I print them off a lot of times the numbers print out with vertical and horizontal lines around them. How do I go about getting rid of that?

Please use the 'More Reply Options' button for access to the forum attachments feature. Browse to a *.afdesign file that exhibits this behaviour, and then press 'Attach This File' to attach it to your post.

Draw the shape that you want to use, go to the Layers panel and drag its thumbnail onto the thumbnail of the layer that you want to crop. If you've dragged it to the correct place, you'll see a short blue vertical line immediately to the right of the target thumbnail, and when you drop it by releasing the mouse button the target object will be cropped to the shape that you dragged.
