Seanyboy
Is this 3D effect going to have a larger lathe proportion than the minimalistic 100 px that is the max depth at present? I can't see it being much use as is! Quote MacBookPro 15-inch mid 2010 intel core I7, NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB, Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5.
Staff MattP Posted June 12, 2014 Staff Share Posted June 12, 2014 You should be able to type in any value you like in the text field next to the slider. For all the work I do, 100px is far larger than I would ever need! I guess it's all dependent on how big you're designing things... and how much gratuitous 3d-ness you want to see! ;)
Seanyboy
Perhaps I'm not grasping the difference between Drawplus 3D and AFFINITY 3D fx Matt The screen shot - if it loads for me shows a rectangle 3D effect with 100px depth in both DrawPlus (top) and AFFINITY (bottom) I don't get a 3D experience in AFFINITY as I would expect in DrawPlus - is this correct Quote MacBookPro 15-inch mid 2010 intel core I7, NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB, Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5. Seanyboy
I appreciate that the DP version is a 3D Tool and not an effect, perhaps I am asking for too much to early - perhaps I should add this as an improvement/ feature request? I've always found it frustration in all graphics apps that effects sliders often don't give you the control you need. Fact is a shape which is 1000px wide I want a different range of offset/radius to an object of 10px. Actually for Affinity, where we've got infinite zoom and no stopping people drawing shapes at 0.1px or lower - you can't get a drop shadow for example very close to a tiny object without manually typing an offset of 0.001px or whatever. Only possible solution would be making the max value of the offset slider (and similar attributes in other effects) in some way proportional to the size of shape you've selected, but that probably throws up other complications! swishyhair
What I'm after is the 'Extrude and Bevel' type of 3D that you get in Illustrator. It was also available in DrawPlus but I always found it quite slow and clunky - and I didn't like the results as much as Illustrator. Will this feature be coming? I have always found the result in Illustrator to be very poor as well. Even if we do implement an extrude feature then I wouldn't want it in Designer.
