Photo | Layers panel improvements

Recommended Posts

I love Affinity Photo, but I just can't get used to not having some basic functionality I'm used to from Photoshop.

(1) Using a modifier key to toggle Hide/Show all other layers (except for the one I'm clicking). This is especially useful if I want to quickly A/B the before and afer.

(2) Click and drag/slide up and down the check boxes in order to quickly Hide/Show multiple layers.

hi,

ad. 1) You can alt-click any layer (in layers tab) to show only this layer

ad. 2) The best you can do is alt-click a layer to select all layers between current and clicked then dis/en-able all selected with one of the check marks.

Edit, it's alt-click not shift-click if I remember correctly now.

Rather than start a new thread this seems like the appropriate place to suggest this.

First I'd like to second what Here's Johnny suggests plus-

an option for a choice of thumbnail sizes in the layers palette.
It would be a  small change to the Ui but I think it would make a big difference to  everyday working with the program. I for one find the size of the thumbnails at present quite a strain to see and very little use as a guide to what is on a layer particularly if the image is a complex one with many composite elements and layers. Ive been trialing Affinity Photo for a few days now and would eventually like to leave Photoshop behind for Affinity  but this is a missing feature that's really putting me off what I think is overall a fantastic program.

+1! It's a bit disappointing that this is not possible in Affinity Photo yet. It would be great for productivity if implemented.
