Hugh023
I need to open files from the Bryce 3D app, and they are PCT files. How can I do this?
Staff Callum Posted February 11, 2017 Staff Share Posted February 11, 2017 Hi Gugh023, Welcome to the Forums :) We don't support PCT files in Affinity I'm afraid. R C-R
This info about the .pct file extension may help. The Apple PICT ("Picture") file format is effectively obsolete -- in fact, Apple's current Preview app won't open one unless you relaunch it in 32 bit mode, & it won't preserve the PICT 2 version's vector objects. Fixx
(If you use mac) try Graphic Converter by Lemke Software. Opens about any old format images, you can save to some more modern format. Trial version should be good enough (I am not sure if batch conversion work in tryout).

I have GraphicConverter 9. I haven't used it for opening & converting PICT files for a long time, but if I remember correctly, like Preview, it does not preserve any vector content in type 2 PICT files -- basically, it is flattening everything to a single pixel layer, except possibly for text. dvoth
A comment about the latest version of GraphicConverter (now 10.3.1) is that it supports previewing Affinity Photo images in the Browser. (like those in the Finder) Quote David Voth Affinity Photo, Designer and Publisher ver. 2: macOS Sonoma and iPadOS
v_kyr
XnView MP (Mac & Win & Linux) can also read and convert those files, also in batch-mode. IrfanView (Win) can probably too.
