.PSD format

Recommended Posts

Good evening,

I posted a few days ago the below before seeing that it deals with Feature request thematic.

I use Affinity Designer for my designs and try to export them in .PSD format in order to import these inside Zeplin or Extract for integration.

The problem is that each time I create a Text area, it's not recognized by Zeplin or Extract like as Text Object or layer and then integrators can't fetch informations about font size, color, style, type.

Could you investigate about the .PSD format exported and do you plan to improve the .psd format exportation ?

Many thanks.

Warm regard

Stefan

Hi Stefan,

Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

Currently we don't export text as (native) PSD text when exporting to PSD. This is something the dev team intend to add in a future version but it will take some time. The PSD format is poorly documented and this task is quite demanding in resources/time.

Many people have asked for it. This really shows how important this feature would be for many many designers who work with other designers who use Photoshop or work with developers who use Zeplin, Simpli or Avocode. And I say it again: This feature is CRITICAL and should be high priority. I appreciate all new features like a bright UI and such, but my clients care about one thing only: "Why can't we see the text area properties?"

Again, thanks for all your hard work. I really hope for a fix.  ;)

Hi Wiredframe,

We are well aware this is a critical feature for a lot of users, however we have a small develop team and this is not a trivial task. Being critical or not doesn't change this. The PSD format is also poorly documented which doesn't help and there's also other features that are equally important/critical for other users in other areas. We are doing our best to implement them all as soon as possible but they will take time. Hope you understand. Bear with us while we get there.
