1:1 & Fit to window button?

Recommended Posts

New user here and liking what I'm seeing so far.  I'm not seeing a 1:1 or fit-to-window button.  Are they not available?  I know about the Z shortcut and double click.  But, I'd rather have dedicated buttons.  Am I overlooking them?

cmd-9 and cmd-0 are easy enough

I use CMD-0 & CMD-1 so often that those two number key tops have gotten as shinny & worn looking as the CMD key.  :)

... 1:1 or fit-to-window button.  ...

would like this also if 1:1 would meant to be 1:1 in 'real live'. 100% obviously doesnt mean this.

other programs sometimes had an option to tweak this according to real measures - e.g. 100mm paper -> 100mm on screen.

thats what i mean if it would be 1:1.

imho useful at last in AD.

What does 'real live' mean, or for that matter "1:1"?

If you are not referencing physical, printed output it could mean several different things, & even if you are there is no guarantee that the printing software will print at the dimensions specified by the DPI & pixel dimensions.

Some apps offer preferences for defining "100% scale" in various ways, like 1 image pixel equals 1 screen pixel or size on screen equals size on printout (which has to be referenced against print settings to be valid). Affinity offers them all, & you don't have to dig down into preference settings to pick one.

Actual size (cmd-8) tries to display image at print size. I have not checked if it works, in the past varying dpi of different displays have made this futile.

Turn on the document ruler & compare it to a physical one held up against the screen. At least on my iMac they match very closely. As long as the printing software uses the same DPI as the file, so does the printed output, give or take paper absorbency, dot gain, & such.
