wscrcom
I did an SVG conversion on a jpeg and when I open it in Affinity my machine falls over (memory issue). Machine has 8GB Physical ram and 4GB Video ram. Weirdly, I can open the file and work with it very comfortably in Inkscape Is there anything I can tweak to avoid this issue in future? Are SVG's problematic in Affinity? Is there another format that it might play nicer with? Thanks J memory hog.svg
MikeW
Not that your error should happen but why in the world are you saving a jpg image as a svg vector file? It remains a bitmap wrapped in svg code, but there is nothing to be gained.
wscrcom
Jpeg not scalable, so converted it to vector. Is for a logo design, so needs to be able to be made a lot bigger if necessary. Is this the wrong way to go about it? What is the correct way?
R C-R
For what little it is worth, I tried opening the file in AD on my Mac (specs below in my sig). It opens OK & I don't have any problems selecting individual layers. However, selecting all 27000+ (!!!) layers & trying to move them all at once, or anything similar, causes AD to incur delays of several minutes -- it doesn't crash, just becomes so slow that it is almost unusable. This does not seem to be memory related -- according to the Mac Activity Monitor, AD & all other user processes combined are using less that 3 GB of app memory. Activity Monitor also shows AD's CPU usage at 100% (out of 400% total possible for all four cores) during the slowdowns, so this may be a threading issue or something.
