Transform and flip horizontal problem

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

A bit of a newbie question. I'm coming from Elements where this action is really easy and I'm sure it's easy in Affinity too but...

Firstly I'm in Affinity Windows v1.5.1.4 and Windows 10.

I'm trying to cut a section of an image, flip it horizontally and then paste it elsewhere on the image.

The method I'm using is - Using the marquee tool I select the section and Crtl C to copy. I then Crtl V to paste and it comes up on another pixel layer. I select the new layer then right click the selection then Transform then Flip Horizontally. All good so far. What also appears is a blue box the size of the image offset by about a quarter of the image width. If I try to move my selection outside of the blue box it disappears.

When I merge down the blue box realigns with the image.

What is the blue box? Why is it offset? Why can't I paste to where I want?

Thanks. :)

Hi Ludek,

Welcome to the Forums :)

Please could you take a screenshot of the blue box in question and attach it to this thread so I can look into this further for you?

Yes, I see it too...

To get around the problem Right Click the new layer (before you attempt to move it) and click Rasterise

Not sure what causes the initial problem

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

Hello and thanks for the replies.

I've included a screen shot which I hope is of sufficient quality for you.

I copied a section of the drain pipe above the lady's head and flipped it. For demonstration purposes I have moved it across the blue box area and you will see a portion is now disappeared although you can see the width of the actual copied element.

I tried the rasterize option (this is it) and it didn't work for me (sorry).

I hope this helps.

Overall I very pleased with the product and quite expected some issues with this early release - keep up the good work! :)
