Had made these for the recently past newyear in AD, a flyer template for a girlfriend who is a dancer (the lady with the hat) and a new year greeting card pic.

She is your girlfriend, then how do you find time for your artwork?

Good question! :D  Well artists are always on the road, so there is enough time left for other things. Further one has to set priorities ... ;)

BTW the hardest part on making flyers for her is always to extract her from our made portrait shots in some reusable manner, so to say from irregular background photos, especially here dealing with fine hair details and the like...

...that's always the most time consuming part on such things.

Love the glowing clock numerals and the hands approaching 12! That tells the whole story. Great concept.

Thanks! - Liked the idea with the clock too, which tells that time goes by. When first discussed with the girl, I had quickly thrown together this vintage example, in order to show her something with a clock.

So we took the clock idea over for her flyer.

My firework brush in AP was originally a psp tube.  Which I had taken into photoplus. I saved this as a png file from photoplus then imported into AP as a new image brush.

I like the numerals on the clock; right font colour and texture.

However, there's a typo the date says 31th and not 31st.

...

Damn, thought 31th would be correct, well these are the sort of faults if you are sadly not a native English speaker. ;)

Hey v_kyr, how did you get that fireworks effect in the New Year's card? It came out pretty sweet! Is it some kind of particles or perhaps some clever brush work?

Hi CreationsOfKoon,

the firework is made of a bunch of overlayed layers with brushed vector lines and forms, the explosion center glow is made by underlayed color blurred circle forms.

Uh, wow, ok! Then you definitely have an eye for the composition of the firework's exploded particles, because they look very realistic! Again - good job and thanks for sharing your method!
