Petar Petrenko Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 The text that follows is borrowed from CreativePro.com that explains Adobe tips & tricks. It would be nice to be part of Designer: Drawing Instant Abstract Art in Illustrator Did you know the tilde key has magical powers in Adobe Illustrator? Yes, the humble, unassuming tilde key that sits near the top left of your keyboard. By pressing and holding it as you drag with any of Illustrator's shape tools, you can draw instant abstract art. When the tilde key is pressed Illustrator creates a new shape each time the screen redraws. So if you move your mouse or pen tablet slowly, you get a lot of densely packed shapes. If you move it faster, you get fewer shapes spaced farther apart. The results look a little bit like an old school Spirograph (if you're a child of the 70s-80s). Experiment with different starting shapes, like polygons and stars. Just make sure you set no fill before you start drawing, otherwise you may not see all the shapes. Uncle Mez Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Relaunching this topic guys/staff. is there a way to assign a Key for ADesigner to make the same? This would be helpful for time until new version with blend tool is released, i mean it will help drawing complex but beautiful forms just by pressing and holding a simple key then focus on coloring the thing etc ... Time saving functionality. Please if Affinity Designer can already do that; tell us what key or combo key to play with or where it sits in the preference (how you named it) so we can play with a bit then tell you guys (staffs) what we think about and how to improve it for better. gh.xyz Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 That's cool but its really not the same thing. See how the 'tilde trick' can be used: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CyyBivWMwyT/ Quote
