The thumbnail automatically updates once I drag objects into the group. I am using 1.5.4 for the MacBook Pro. Quote The website is still a work in progress. It looks like this problem does not occur if you drag objects into the highest nested parent layer. If you drag objects into lower nested layers or just regular non-nested layers (curves), this issue will occur. Quote The website is still a work in progress.
