Tiff file and Alpha Channel

Recommended Posts

Hi, when I render an image in 3ds Max and save as a tiff file with the alpha channel included, then when I load into Affinity the alpha channel is automatically enabled - when I disable alpha channel my image disappears. Does not behave correctly. Ideally the alpha channel should not be active when image is first loaded but can be made visible in the channels list.

Here is the file. When I load the tiff file it should show the background and the embedded alpha mask should be off, then the mask should appear when I turn it on in the channels.

Couldn't attach the file, I get this error message:

Error You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file

I tried both the basic and advanced uploader.

We use alpha channel to mask specific parts of maps so as e.g. to distinguish between sea and land. We have the same problem as 3drealism. Furthermore, exporting the image does not maintain the alpha channel; even worse, exporting deletes (!) the data in the black regions of the alpha channel.

I wonder also why the menu displays twice the channel window. Is there a reason I have not understood?

I hope you don't mind. Affinity photo is onto a very good way to offer an alternative to Adobe. However, a little way is still to go.
