Rubylith Mask overlay

Recommended Posts

While it is possible to see a rubylith overlay for quick masks, it is not possible when just editing a mask.

This is useful because it can useful to know what areas of the image the mask is operatintg on and allows better control over the editing of masks

Alt+Click on the mask alone isn't enough ?

Problem is how can we mask an area with enough precision if we cannot overlay the mask on top of the image? ALT+click shows us the mask, but not in relation to the actual image being operated on

The workaround here is nothing more than that - a workaround. While its effective in getting the job done, its not effective in a professional setting. The rubylith mask overlay (or black and white image overlay) provides an amount of precision that's sometimes needed when cutting out complex images. It's a heavily used photoshop feature that's missing from Affinity Photo, and a hinderance to a professional workflow. Switching between a bunch of tools, creating multiple unneeded history states, and most importantly adding clicks and keystrokes removes time and efficiency from an otherwise easily solvable issue.
