hammarbytp
While it is possible to see a rubylith overlay for quick masks, it is not possible when just editing a mask. This is useful because it can useful to know what areas of the image the mask is operatintg on and allows better control over the editing of masks Wosven
KiboOst
Alt+Click on the mask alone isn't enough ? hammarbytp
Problem is how can we mask an area with enough precision if we cannot overlay the mask on top of the image? ALT+click shows us the mask, but not in relation to the actual image being operated on
Staff MEB Posted January 11, 2017 Staff Share Posted January 11, 2017 Hi hammarbytp, Here's a workaround you can use: press and hold ⌘ (cmd) and click the mask's thumbnail to load a selection from it, then press Q to enter Quick mask mode to edit your selection. Create a new mask from it and delete the original one. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
seamonsterwes
The workaround here is nothing more than that - a workaround. While its effective in getting the job done, its not effective in a professional setting. The rubylith mask overlay (or black and white image overlay) provides an amount of precision that's sometimes needed when cutting out complex images. It's a heavily used photoshop feature that's missing from Affinity Photo, and a hinderance to a professional workflow. Switching between a bunch of tools, creating multiple unneeded history states, and most importantly adding clicks and keystrokes removes time and efficiency from an otherwise easily solvable issue. lepr and pixeldroid
Lefthand
+1 Plus the ability to switch in and out of the 'Rubylith' overlay (as turning on or off the visibility of the quickmask channel in Photoshop).
